Born in Tel Aviv, Israel, Dr. Zahavi graduated from the Tel Aviv University High School, then served his active duty in the Israeli military, and was discharged with honors.
Dr. Zahavi completed his combined D.M.D and Masters degree Summa Cum Laude from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 1997, where he received multiple awards for his clinical achievements. He then pursued a specialty program in Prosthodontics at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, graduating with highest honors in the residency program. He received his board certification in Prosthodontics and maintained a private practice in Israel for several years.
Educational and Career Highlights
- During his studies, he was deeply involved in many educational projects in underprivileged communities
- Coordinated a large coaching program for children from families in crisis
- Counseled individuals who suffered head trauma
- Instructed in a special health project, along with several other endeavors
- Moved to Rochester with his family in 2003 to attend the Periodontology program at the University of Rochester Eastman Dental Center
- Completed Periodontology program in 2006 at the University of Rochester Eastman Dental Center
- Awarded a certificate of excellence from the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation
- Honored with a research fellowship from a major dental implant company
- On faculty of Periodontology department of the University of Rochester Eastman Institute for Oral Health
- Presented his clinical and research work in national forums and has been published in several peer- reviewed scientific journals and books
Dr. Zahavi is married to Dr. Netta Zahavi, a skilled veterinarian at The Village Vet located in Webster, NY.
The couple has two sons, a daughter and a wonderful family dog. Dr. Zahavi enjoys gourmet cooking, traveling and spending time with his family.
